School of Rock- Day 1- Tools, Safety, and Silence

School of Rock – Day 1 – Slience, Safety, Tools, and Goals

SUMMARY

Write your daily summary last, at the end of the day here…

I learned that if you listen to loud noises for a long time you will lose your hearing. Soundtrap is a really cool way of composing and making songs and music, with the ability to collaborate with people in real time, with chats and live video chats.

Copy and paste the notes below and add details that you found interesting…

  • 2 causes ot hear loss, natural and noise induced. natural causes are… blocked ear canal, infection of the inner ear, arthritis of the ear, head injures, and brain damage. noise induced hearing loss is not curable. like a gun shot can cause people who shoot guns to have hearing loss in one ear
  • when ears hear sound, the brain detects it as sound.
  • overexposition to loud sounds, the ear cells will become overstimulated. when they are overstimulated the ears become paralyzed and stop responding to sound
  • ear cells will recover, but if you keep listeningt to loud noises for a long period of time you will lose ear cells, and your hearing will be lost
  • Goal: listen to music in a way that it will enrich but not harm you
  • 10%-20% of high schoolers have hearing damage
  • Hearing damage can happen in one occasion, doesn’t have to be constant
  • No cure!
  • Temporary Threshold Shift: “hearing hangover”
  • Wearing earplugs doesn’t change the quality of sound but just the volume
  • High-frequency loss is most commons with musicians
  • Distancing yourself from the source and earplugs are the best way to prevent hearing loss
  • Stimulants while listening to music can increase the risk of hearing damage
  • Resting your ears is important, space out concerts
  • 70 dB, no risk
  • 85 dB, risk after 8 hours
  • 91dB, 2 hours without damage
  • 100 dB, 15 minutes without damage
  • 115 dB, 1 minute without damage
  • 140 dB, immediate damage and pain
  • Symptoms of damage, tinnitus, muffled hearing, and other mental and physical problems like irritability, depression, high blood pressure, and fatigue
  • damage is done when the cochlea hair cells in the inner ear are damaged, they do not grow back. These are what interpret vibrations and turn them into what we hear

Advice

LAB

I learned that the top part of the lab is the notes. you press the spacebar to play the music in the playbank. you can type in lyrics on teh right side. you can choose a band style on the very bottom of Hookpad.

I learned that HookPad uses colored blocks as sound for each note, even in different keys. you can change the key of the playback. you can also change into different modes.

PRACTICE ROOM

I would like to learn Twinkle Twinkle Little Star by the end of the day.

Guitar Tabs Explained

  • you have to figure out where to place your fingers on the frets
  • if there is a zero on the string, it means to leave the string open
  • listen to the song that you are learning

WHAT I LEARNED and PROBLEMS I SOLVED

Tell your daily story here!  Highlight what you learned and enjoyed most.  Also, share what you needed to do to complete the day’s work. Problem-solving is one of the most important skills you need in life. Employers want to know HOW you get stuff done as much as what you got done.

I learned that HookPad uses colored blocks as sound for each note. Plus you can also change to different modes. I really liked how clearly the Sountrap expert course was, I was able to listen and understand everything with no problem. I also took the Sountrap expert test session and there is so much that you can do on there. Like play with different instrument by using the computer keyboard. You can also collaborate with people anywhere around the world by doing a chat or a video chat. I had no major prablems but when I took a screenshot of the certificate for finishing the expert training course I couldn’t find a way of cropping the image on the chromebook I was useing. So I sent an email to my iPhone and cropped it on there and then sent it back and I fixed my problem. After that, every task went very smoothly and I suprisingly had no tech problems.
